Established in 1963, Laxman Singh Mahar (L.S.M) Govt. Post Graduate College Pithoragarh (Uttarakhand) is an affiliated college of Kumaun university, Nainital (A 4 star accredited university by NAAC). The college is being developed as a model college by Govt. of Uttarakhand, is among 65 government colleges in Uttarakhand and is the only college in the Kumaon Division of Uttarakhand that has secured B++ grade from NAAC.
The college is located in the district headqurters of Pithoragarh district and is situated at 151 km. and 212 km. road distance from the rail heads of Tanakpur and Kathgodam respectively.

About Pithoragarh Pithoragarh is the easternmost district of Uttarakhand, A place of exquisite natural beauty and serenity, Pithoragarh is popularly known as the 'Little Kashmir'. This captivating town with fascinating forests around it is located at an impressive height of 1,645 m and is nestled in a small valley. Pithoragarh town is a historical landmark.
